Three releases from Rockstar in three years, and between them the source of almost everything that is genuinely confirmed about this game. All embedded below, in order, with what each one established.

An Extended Look — 27 August 2026
Twenty-six minutes of gameplay and cutscenes, captured in-engine on PlayStation 5. It premiered on Netflix at 3pm ET and arrived on Rockstar's own YouTube channel and website at 9pm ET the same day.

What it confirmed
- A six-star wanted system, and police that build a description from what witnesses actually saw — your face, your clothes, your vehicle — instead of knowing where you are the moment you are spotted.
- A Criminal Profile system in place of the old reputation meter, which tracks whether you work like a professional or leave a mess behind you.
- Snapmatic returns, alongside new phone apps: one for checking a vehicle's value, lock status, alarm and tracker before you take it, and a rideshare app.
- The scale claims that Rockstar has since repeated in interviews: roughly twice GTA V's map, about three times Red Dead Redemption 2's.
This remains Rockstar's only release of actual gameplay. Everything you read about mechanics that does not trace back to these 26 minutes is either from a leak or from somebody's imagination.
Trailer 2 — 6 May 2025
Two minutes and forty-four seconds, and the first substantial look at the cast beyond the two leads. Rockstar confirmed the footage was captured in-engine on PlayStation 5.

What it established
The supporting characters — Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, the Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder — alongside a much wider view of Leonida beyond Vice City itself. Rockstar published bios for all of them on its Only in Leonida page at the same time, which is where the confirmed character information on this site comes from.
Rockstar described it as the biggest video launch it had ever had, reporting more than 475 million views across platforms in the first 24 hours, of which around 84 million were on YouTube.

Trailer 1 — December 2023
The reveal. Scheduled for 5 December 2023 at 9am ET, it leaked roughly sixteen hours early, and Rockstar responded by publishing it immediately on the evening of 4 December rather than letting a stolen copy circulate.

What it established
- Vice City, the state of Leonida, and the two leads.
- A 2025 release window, which has since moved twice. The full delay history is here.
- PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the platforms, with no mention of PC — a silence Rockstar has maintained ever since.
The music is Love Is a Long Road by Tom Petty, from Full Moon Fever — confirmed by Petty's own estate rather than only by listeners.
Guinness World Records certified three records for it, including the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours, at 90,421,491 views, and the most-viewed non-music YouTube video in a 24-hour period.
What has not been released

A third numbered trailer. An Extended Look was a gameplay presentation, not Trailer 3, and Rockstar has not said whether another trailer is coming before launch.

On leaked footage. Unofficial clips have circulated at several points, most recently in August 2026. We do not host, embed or link to them. Beyond the legal position, a great deal of what circulates as “leaked gameplay” turns out to be AI-generated fakes, and Take-Two has been sending cease-and-desist letters over exactly that.
