When does GTA 6 come out?
Confirmed Thursday, 19 November 2026. Announced by Rockstar on 6 November 2025 and reaffirmed by Take-Two in August 2026. Full history.
Will it be delayed again?
Nobody outside Rockstar can tell you. It has been delayed twice, both times announced roughly six months out. Against that, pre-orders are open, 26 minutes of gameplay has been shown and Take-Two's financial guidance is built on a November launch. We do not publish predictions.
What time does it unlock?
No word Rockstar has not announced a time. What is known about launch day.
Platforms
What can I play it on?
Confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's site says it “plays best on PlayStation 5”, without publishing any technical detail behind that.
Is it coming to PC?
No word Rockstar has never announced a PC version and has never ruled one out. Three years of silence. Every PC release date you have seen is extrapolated from GTA V and Red Dead 2. The actual record.
Is it coming to PS4, Xbox One or Switch?
No word Rockstar has only ever named the current-generation consoles, and has never published a statement excluding the others.
Price and buying
How much does it cost?
Confirmed $79.99 standard, $99.99 ultimate in the US. What each contains.
Should I pre-order?
Possibly not. The pre-order bonus is included with digital purchases through 20 November — the day after launch — so waiting costs most people nothing. The full reasoning.
Can I upgrade from Standard to Ultimate later?
Confirmed Yes. Rockstar has said the Ultimate content will be available to Standard buyers through a separately purchased upgrade. The price of that upgrade has not been announced.
The game
Where is it set?
Confirmed The fictional state of Leonida, whose main city is Vice City. Rockstar has named seven locations in total. All of them.
How big is the map?
Confirmed Roughly twice GTA V's, about three times Red Dead Redemption 2's, with Vice City around twice the size of Los Santos. Unconfirmed Any figure in square miles. Rockstar gave a comparison, not a measurement.
Who do you play as?
Confirmed Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, both playable leads. The full cast.
How long is it?
Confirmed Rob Nelson of Rockstar North said his own playthrough of the story plus some side content took about 80 hours. That is one person's playthrough, not an official length.
What year is it set in?
Confirmed The present day. Nelson has described it as a time capsule of 2026. More on the setting.
Multiplayer
Does GTA 6 have online multiplayer?
No word Rockstar has announced nothing. The PlayStation Store lists it as a single-player experience. Why this gets confused.
Is GTA Online shutting down?
Confirmed No. Take-Two has said twice that it expects to continue supporting it. What that does and does not cover.
Will my GTA Online progress transfer?
There is nothing announced for it to transfer to.
Leaks and rumours
Are the leaked screenshots real?
Often not. A growing share are AI-generated, and Take-Two has sent cease-and-desist letters over exactly that. A convincing image is not evidence. How to read them.
Why does this site not publish leaks?
Because mixing leaked claims with confirmed facts destroys the distinction the site exists to maintain — and because distributing stolen material from an unreleased game is not a defensible position. Editorial policy.
What is the soundtrack?
No word Rockstar has announced no soundtrack and no radio stations. Nineteen tracks have been identified in official footage, only one confirmed by a rights holder. The list, with the caveat.
