Is GTA 6 Delayed Again?

No. As of 11 September 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for 19 November 2026. Rockstar has announced no further delay, and Take-Two reaffirmed the date on its earnings call in August 2026.

Why this question keeps coming back

Because it has happened twice, and both times it came without warning.

  • 2 May 2025 Delayed from Fall 2025 to 26 May 2026

    Rockstar: “We need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”

  • 6 November 2025 Delayed from 26 May 2026 to 19 November 2026

    Rockstar: “These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

Note the pattern: both announcements came roughly six months before the date they were moving. We are now inside that window, which is part of why the question feels live.

What has changed since the last delay

Reasons the current date looks more solid than the previous two:

  • Pre-orders are open and have been since 25 June 2026. Money has been taken.
  • Rockstar has shown 26 minutes of gameplay, in-engine, on 27 August 2026. Studios do not usually run a full gameplay presentation on a game that is far from done.
  • Take-Two's financial guidance for the year is built on a November launch, and the company reaffirmed both in August.
  • A pre-load date exists — 12 November 2026.

And a developer said so out loud

Asked by Famitsu about scepticism over the November date, Rob Nelson of Rockstar North replied: “I'd be thrilled if you feel confident about the quality. And yes, it will definitely be released (laughs).”

Worth weighing accurately. That is a developer answering a question in an interview, with a laugh, not a company announcement — it carries less formal weight than Take-Two reaffirming the date on an earnings call. But it is the closest thing to a person at Rockstar being asked directly and saying yes.

What still leaves room for doubt

  • Both previous delays were announced with no prior signal at all.
  • Rockstar has now demonstrated twice that it will take the commercial hit rather than ship a game it is not happy with.
  • Several details that normally exist by now — install size, performance modes, review plans — still do not.

How you would know it was real

A genuine delay is announced by Rockstar on its own newswire and, simultaneously, on its social accounts. That is how both previous delays were announced. It is never first reported by an anonymous account, a leaker, or an aggregator site.

So the test for anything you see is simple: is there a rockstargames.com link? If not, it is not an announcement.

Delay rumours are among the most reliably profitable fake stories in this niche, because the question is always plausible and the traffic is enormous. Treat any “GTA 6 delayed” headline without a Rockstar link as advertising.
