Ten Weeks Out: Where GTA 6 Actually Stands

Sixty-nine days to launch. Here is an honest audit of what is settled, what is still open, and which of the things you have read a hundred times nobody has actually confirmed.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November 2026. That date has held since Rockstar announced it in November 2025 and Take-Two reaffirmed it on its August earnings call. Pre-orders have been open since June. Twenty-six minutes of gameplay went out in August. By any normal measure, this is a game in its final stretch.

And yet the distance between what has been confirmed and what is discussed as settled fact keeps growing. So, an audit.

What is genuinely settled

  • The date and the platforms. 19 November, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • The price. $79.99 standard, $99.99 ultimate, with an upgrade path between them that Rockstar has confirmed in writing.
  • The setting and the cast. Leonida, Vice City, Jason and Lucia, and six named supporting characters.
  • A meaningful amount of gameplay. The six-star wanted system, the Criminal Profile mechanic, the new phone apps, and the scale comparisons — roughly twice GTA V's map, about three times Red Dead 2's.

That is more than was known a year ago by a wide margin. The full list, line by line, is here.

What is still completely open

Three things, and all three get written about as though they were not open at all.

A PC version

Rockstar has said nothing. Not a confirmation, not a denial, in nearly three years. Every PC release date you have seen is somebody extrapolating from GTA V and Red Dead 2. The actual record is here.

Any online mode for GTA VI

Take-Two has committed to keeping GTA Online running — the existing one, attached to GTA V. That is not the same statement as GTA VI having multiplayer, and the PlayStation Store currently lists the game as a single-player experience. The distinction is worth understanding.

Anything technical

No install size, no frame rate targets, no performance modes, no unlock time. Ten weeks out. That is unusual, and worth watching — those details normally surface in the final stretch.

What has got worse

The information environment. August's leak cycle produced a wave of material presented as stolen footage, some of it real and much of it AI-generated. Take-Two's response — DMCA subpoenas against Discord, Microsoft, X and Google — caught a GameStop post using Rockstar's own press assets and briefly locked a journalist's account over screenshots of public court filings.

For anyone trying to follow this game, the practical consequence is that a convincing image is now worth nothing as evidence. We go through how to read this properly here.

What to watch between now and November

  • A launch trailer. Rockstar has released one for every recent major title. Nothing announced.
  • Technical detail. Install size and performance modes usually arrive with the pre-load window, which opens 12 November.
  • Review embargo timing, which will tell you something about the studio's confidence.
  • Any word at all on PC or multiplayer. Three years of silence has to end at some point.

This site updates whenever any of that moves. Nothing gets posted here as fact until there is a source for it.
