A Claim That GTA VI Needs PS5 System Software 14.10 — Unconfirmed
A report this week says the PS5 version of GTA VI will not run on older system software. It comes from a third party, not from Sony or Rockstar, and for most players it changes nothing.
The claim, and its source
| Claim | Source | Status |
|---|---|---|
| The GTA VI PS5 release build requires system software 14.10 | “PlayStation Game Size”, an account that tracks storefront data | Unconfirmed |
| Sony or Rockstar have set a minimum firmware | — | No word |
Why it got attention
Sony’s recent 14.00 and 14.10 updates closed a security exploit affecting earlier firmware. A game that needs 14.10 would not run on consoles kept on old software to preserve that exploit. That is the whole story for the people it affects, and it is a small group.
What to do
- If your PS5 updates normally: nothing. New games routinely need recent system software, and the console prompts you.
- Before 12 November: update the console and clear space so the pre-load goes smoothly. Rockstar has not published an install size.
If Sony or Rockstar state a requirement, we will replace this page’s label with theirs. Platforms and system requirements hold the confirmed information.
