Rockstar's Writers on Jason and Lucia: “Vulnerable, Tough, Flawed”

What was published

• Four new screenshots of Jason and Lucia: a black-and-white portrait, the pair in a diner booth with a large bag, the two in evening wear, and Jason in biker gear at a pool table.
• Excerpts from an interview with Rockstar’s writers. The full piece is in LOVE Magazine issue 27, out 5 October 2026.

What the writers said

• On both leads. Writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern: “We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other.”
• On how they differ. Lucia is described as the one who makes her own decisions and pushes to change her situation; Jason as someone whose circumstances tend to decide for him.
• On tone. Rupert Humphries, senior vice president of narrative, says the game exaggerates modern extremes, aiming to be louder and wilder than the world outside.

Why it matters

Together with Game Informer’s confirmation that the relationship can stay a friendship or become a romance, this is the clearest picture yet of how the two-protagonist story is meant to work: two people with opposite instincts, and a player who shapes how close they get.
